Information about the partnership

The Georgian market is becoming increasingly interesting for foreign companies. The main drivers of the Georgian economy are tourism, construction, logistics and the rapidly expanding IT sector. Private consumption is also making a significant contribution to this growth. Agriculture and food processing have traditionally played a major role in Georgia, a position supported by favourable geographical and climatic conditions. Partnering in Business with Germany fosters B2B connections between German and Georgian SME, particularly in production, transport and logistics, IT, construction, and food processing.

Focus Areas and Cooperation Potentials of Georgia

Georgia’s strategic location between Europe and Asia allows the country to position itself as a regional hub for trade and energy for the South Caucasus. The country’s modernisation and expansion of its transport, energy and social infrastructure as well as the water, waste water management and irrigation sectors, will open up further business opportunities.

Business in Georgia – Opportunities for German Companies

There is potential for German companies in Georgia. The country’s favourable strategic location presents opportunities for German SMEs. There is potential for growth in a number of areas, including logistics, infrastructure, construction, mechanical engineering, environmental technologies and food processing.

The transport and logistics sector is also developing. Georgia has the potential to establish itself as a significant logistics hub, connecting Europe and China. The presence of a multitude of construction projects for port terminals and logistics centres in the Black Sea and in Tbilisi is indicative of this. This offers opportunities for German companies, especially logistics companies, to cooperate with Georgian service providers.

Georgia’s foreign trade has grown strongly over the past few years. Almost 70% of Georgia’s exports to Germany are agricultural products and textiles. In turn, Georgia imports motor vehicles and parts, chemicals and machinery from Germany.

Industry Focus and Participant Profiles

For the Georgian economy, Germany is the most important procurement market in the EU. This means that Georgian executives from almost all sectors take part in Partnering in Business with Germany. There is a focus on the food industry, the transport sector and the construction industry.

It will promote networking between Georgian alumni and the German economy as part of the Partnering in Business with Germany Programme.
