Who is behind Partnering in Business with Germany?

About the programme

Under Partnering in Business with Germany – a foreign trade and investment promotion programme – the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action connects small and medium-sized companies from Germany with partner companies from currently 17 developing and emerging nations, thereby helping them establish business relations.

Since the establishment of the programme in 1998, more than 17,000 top and middle managers from foreign countries have taken part in the programme, and, over several weeks of training, familiarised themselves with German business culture, gained practical expertise and made direct contact with potential business partners in Germany.

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action is the ministry in charge of Partnering in Business with Germany. It works with the governments of the partner countries to organise bilateral cooperation under the programme. It has commissioned the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) to implement the programme on its behalf. The GIZ works closely with the implementing partners to market the programme on the ground, to identify potential qualified companies and to prepare them for participation in the programme. 16 business-related German Business Development Centres, which were selected via a Europe-wide call for proposals, are in charge of implementing the group programmes for the participants.
