Technology partners in high demand: CCI Stuttgart Region hosts talks with Vietnamese firms

Managers from Vietnam met with companies from the Stuttgart region to engage in talks about specific opportunities for cooperation, sign agreements on confidentiality and forge new partnerships in the fields of circular economy and environmental technology.

Under the headline “Vietnam: attractive opportunities for German environmental technology”, the Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) transformed for a day into a vibrant matchmaking platform. In the bright, light‑filled conference room, representatives from Vietnamese and German convened to discuss wastewater treatment in the Mekong Delta, shrimp‑rice cultivation and automation components made from aluminium and steel.

The matchmaking event was organised by CCI Stuttgart Region together with Umwelttechnik BW. It brought together 14 participants from the Partnering in Business with Germany programme and German firms working in water management, packaging, agriculture and automation technology. The presentations given by the Vietnamese participants about their cooperation projects with Germany were followed by a series of B2B meetings, allowing both sides to explore the potential for specific joint projects.

Water management as a potential future market for German exports

In many of the discussions, the issue of water took centre stage. With mounting pressure on the Mekong Delta and high demand for modern wastewater and water treatment solutions, Vietnam’s economy is looking for highly specialised technology partners – for example for industrial parks, agriculture or municipal infrastructure.

Uwe Bender, head of sales at ATEC GmbH, was pleased with the results of the event: “The participants asked very specific and technically detailed questions, which led to an intensive and substantive dialogue. Overall, we see great potential for long‑term cooperation with Vietnamese partners.”

How networking fuels cooperation

Nam Duc Nguyen, team leader for project development focusing on eco-industrial parks and the circular economy at Vietnamese firm SHINEC JSC, described a specific example to highlight the value of the matchmaking event. On a programme trip a few days before, he had visited the wastewater treatment plant in Unterföhring. At the matchmaking event, he then met again the supplier whose sludge drying technology is used at the plant.

“We had a good talk and will keep in touch,” sayd Mr Nguyen. The German provider’s greenhouse‑based drying system could become a central part of SHINEC’s eco‑industrial park.

Productive talks and new cooperation projects

The event featured more examples of how personal contact can translate into tangible cooperation. Following successful discussions with a German automation technology provider, Ms Le Huyen Trang of Thang Long CNCTech JSC agreed to finalise a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for metal components: “We will speed up the process so the contract can start as quickly as possible.”

The matchmaking event also paved the way for new cooperation on agriculture. Ms Dang Thi Ngoc Huong from the Institute for Circular Economy Development attracted the interest of two German firms with a specialised shrimp-rice cultivation model. One fertiliser producer is exploring the possibility of conducting a field trial in Vietnam, whilst another German company is considering the import of a special variety of rice grown there.

All in all, the matchmaking day proved exceptionally successful, showing that Stuttgart is a place where German‑Vietnamese business partnerships can thrive.
