“We are very pleased about the extension of the Partnering in Business with Germany programme. In a year where we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our diplomatic relations, this is a strong signal for our economic cooperation and the common desire to promote sustainable partnerships”, said Helga Margarete Barth after the signing ceremony in Hanoi on 1 April 2025.
Economic relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and Vietnam have become continuously deeper over last years. The free trade agreement between Vietnam and the European Union entered into force in 2020 and has led to a further enhancement of bilateral economic relations between Germany and Vietnam. Today, Germany is Vietnam’s largest trading partner in the European Union. In the last decade, Vietnam has reached an average economic growth of over 6%. In particular, sectors such as the electronics, textile, shoe, furniture and packaging industry contribute to the rapid economic growth and are attractive to foreign investors.
