With energy and dedication, the future Brazilian partners MDIC (Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services) and APEX Brasil (The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) discussed a target-driven agenda with the German delegation. Both sides’ interests in facilitating cooperation between German and Brazilian companies were discussed and the theme of the first Brazilian business delegation to visit Germany agreed: energy efficiency and sustainable solutions for industry.
In April 2026, Brazil will be the partner country of Hannover Messe. The Brazilian pilot group participating in Partnering in Business with Germany is to use Hannover Messe for guidance, as the fair offers an excellent opportunity for getting to know the initial outcomes of the new cooperation between Germany and Brazil and for laying the foundations for a long-term partnership through the signing of the Joint Declaration of Intent at a high level.
The talks with CNI and Sebrae, two Brazilian business associations, highlight the benefits of the cooperation: both associations will support APEX Brasil in advertising the programme across all regions of the country, not least by contacting the target group (Brazilian companies with potential for foreign trade and investment). After Mexico, Brazil is Germany’s second-most important trading partner in Latin America, with bilateral trade exceeding €22 billion in 2024. Germany is Brazil’s largest trading partner in Europe and its third-largest source of imports. Brazil is the world’s fifth-largest country by area. With its 212 million inhabitants, its abundant natural resources (renewable accounted for 89% of its electricity mix in 2023), its vast agricultural sector, food and beverages industry, manufacturing sector, transport and energy sectors, Brazil offers many new opportunities for cooperation with German companies, particularly SMEs.
